Investigations

Offenders Revealed By Investigations & Testing (ORBIT) ® is a small private investigation business, which is licensed, bonded, and insured ($1,000,000.00 each occurrence) in the State of Arizona. The private investigation business specializes in the investigation of cold case homicides and cold case sexual assaults, which are at least five years old. The business serves families by “jumpstarting” homicide investigations and sexual assault investigations, which appear to have stalled after years of thorough investigation by law enforcement. The private investigator assists families, whose loved ones have been victims of violent homicides or sexual assaults, by attempting to collect evidence that identifies the offender and links the offender to the violent crime. This evidence can then hopefully be used by law enforcement to help law enforcement advance its investigation forward and subsequently make an arrest of a potential offender.

After the private investigator gathers circumstantial evidence, documentary evidence, physical evidence, and/or testimonial evidence, this evidence is then submitted to law enforcement to help move their investigation forward. The private investigator defers to law enforcement so as not to interfere with the ongoing investigation by law enforcement. The private investigator fully informs clients and law enforcement in regard to the evidence and information collected.

At all times, the caseload of the private investigation business is very small, which allows for more personalized service to be given to the client. Because the cases are at least five years old, the private investigator must begin the investigation by conducting a careful review of documents, which may include pertinent newspaper articles, crime scene photos, autopsy and toxicology reports, police reports, investigative reports from law enforcement, and other documents. Furthermore, the private investigator must conduct interviews, which may include interviews of family members and friends of the victim, interviews of potential suspects and their associates, and interviews of witnesses and other individuals. The investigative report, which is prepared by the private investigator at the end of the investigation, will likely provide clients with information that they previously did not know. The investigative report may also answer some of the unanswered questions, such as the name of the potential offender and why the potential offender committed the violent crime and how the violent crime was committed by the potential offender. Furthermore, the evidence collected and cited in the investigative report will hopefully compel law enforcement to continue its investigation and ultimately arrest the offender. Finally, it is important to be aware that the private investigation business does “pro bono” work, which is investigative work that is free of charge, as the private investigation business tries to ensure that the victims won’t be forgotten.
